The Community Design Center is both a place and a practice where people- both clients and designers come together as partners to improve the place where people live.
It was founded on the principle that all communities should have equal access to the technical information and skills necessary to participate effectively in the planning and development of their community.

THE MISSION
The Community Design Center's mission is to provide professional architectural, planning and community development services and assistance to low-income and minority communities in Califormia.
The Design Center provides the technical assistance and services to enable low-income communities to participate effectively in the planning, decision-making and development process.
The Center operates with a small full-time staff and part-time volunteers consisting of architects, planners, engineers, landscape architects, student interns and others with the interest and skills needed to deal with urban problems.

The Community Design Center is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) design organization that provides architectural, planning and housing services to community groups in California.
